i bought this peninsula along with the 48" desk, hutch, and PDA shelf. i am more than happy with all 4 items for a multitude of reasons.
but specifically this peninsula is just perfect for someone, like me, who has more going on in the desk area than just standard home office or clerical type tasks, such as art, crafts, and collecting. by just nudging my chair over a few inches, i'm suddenly in another workspace with plenty of room! and then i can go back to my "office" area, still uncluttered and not suffering the indignity of glue and paint splotches.
the swoopy curve on the peninsula rounds off the whole desk ensemble with a smooth retro look that i personally enjoy. besides being so functional, this peninsula just looks cool!

I purchased this along with the corner 60x47 Desk in the espresso finish. It is of course a lot darker than the picture above. It's a dark chocolate not so much a cherry finish. The shipping was fast and the price was far cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else I looked. It comes w/ one 24" shelf but can hold up to 3. I would probably buy the 24" deep shelf to add on incase you have a bigger printer you want to put on it w/o it hanging over too much. The only bad thing about this was that the box looked like it was dragged thru hell!! It is a heavy box but does say team lift on it, but that couldn't have been the case with mine! The top (table) piece had a few knicks and scratches, but not major enough to go through the trouble of sending it back. Set up was a breeze and you can use it either on the left or right side of the desk. It is a nice addition to add on for more work space.

These Legare components are great. I love that you can have the curved edge to either side and they assemble soo easily, yet when assembled are very sturdy.

If you have an older desk of this brand (which is actually more the color of the desk shown - a lighter yellowish), this "wheat" color is much more brown and will not look good. They don't make the peninsula for the older model any longer, so you'll have to paint them to match. The color of the image for this product should be corrected.
